The economic slump that is shaking the whole world is deeper and affecting more industries than expected. Every industry is slashing jobs as cost cutting measures and yesterday is the worst day for labours. Nearly 70,000 jobs have been slashed yesterday.
The construction equipment giant caterpillar announced on Monday that it is cutting 20,000 jobs as a result of plunging sales amid sharp economic slowdown. The software industry too seems to be feeling the heat as Microsoft has decided to slash 5,000 jobs in the next 18 months. Yahoo too has decided to freeze appraisals for its employees.

Pfizer buys rival Wyeth

Pfizer has decided to buyout rival drug maker Wyeth in a 68 billion cash and stock deal. This would enhance Pfizer’s position as no.1 in the pharmaceutical industry. This may seem to have solidified Pfizer’s position in the industry but they too have not been able to escape global economic meltdown. They have decided to slash more than 8,000 jobs as cost cutting measures.
The newyork based company also has decided to reduce the number of manufacturing sites. No industry has escaped global economic meltdown and the pharmacy industry is no different. But the greed of some companies seems endless and Pfizer is no different. It is one of numerous company which slashes job as cost cutting measure but also go on acquiring other companies.

Tomorrow the world will see the first afro-american president of United States. He is going to begin with huge people support and is seen as a “fairy” who could change all the problems like Iraq, Afganistan and Recession with a magic wand. Is that so easy? Only time will tell.
Obama have already declared Iraq and Economy as his top agenda. The first and foremost problem, ie Iraq has already depleted the global image of USA. The war which began as a response to Iraq’s possession of weapons of mass destruction in 2001 has now turned into a civil war and the hatred among Iraqis is reflected by recent shoe gate incident.

Satyam Aftershocks

When news about “satyam fraud” broke out, we could see immediately view the damage it has caused. It’s a huge blow to corporate India and particularly IT sector. Doubts were raised about other IT majors but it seems to have subsided a little bit after infosys reported their Q3 results. But, in long term perspective satyam would be viewed as the fiasco which showed major holes in the Indian corporate governance.
Now that Mr. Raju in jail, the government has taken some strong measures. New board members have been announced and they are taking every step to solve the liquidity crisis.

The government has declined a bailout and that is bad news for 53k employees. And finally government must look into some 6k freshers who have been waiting from may that they would join satyam someday.

Liberation tigers of Tamil Eelam are waging a prolonged civil war in Sri Lanka. These are tough times for the so-called freedom fighters of ethnic Tamils and they are being defeated at every stage and now confined to a very small jungle, as per reports.
Like in many other cases, India seems to be divided in this issue too… One section of people is of opinion that the ethnic Tamils are our own brothers and we should help them in each and every way to get them freedom. These are the ideas garnered by some politicians of tamilnadu and have been carrying an agitation day in and day out. Another section is of more conservative opinion and are arguing that Sri Lanka is a sovereign country and its not good to meddle with their internal affairs.
And this is my personal opinion on this issue. We should not meddle with other countries problem because it would equate this problem to Pakistan-Kashmir problem. And finally to the politicians of tamil nadu, it’s hurting to see your agitation supporting the freedom of Tamils in other country when your own people who voted you to power are suffering from various miseries like unemployment,electricity blackout etc. And finally iam a tamilian too.

My favorite movie

Like a typical male, I like action movies and thrillers. Watching an action movie like “The dark Knight” or a thriller like “Saw” is a fascinating experience. But my favorite film is more of an action drama directed by the same man who directed the dark knight. Christopher Nolan’s “Memento” is the best film I could have ever watched.

Memento’s desi version, “Ghajini” is raking the box-office but it is nowhere near the original one. It was such a great film and is worth watching for its extraordinary screenplay. A lay film-goer will find it difficult to understand the movie but the film is worthy DVD collection. The most astonishing part is like the protagonist of the film, who is suffering from short-term memory loss , we are also able to test our memory because of the the movie is done. You could understand a particular scene only if you are able to recollect and relate it with a scene which came 15 minutes back…

The Hatred towards muslims

9 Muslim people were refused to continue their travel in the Air Tran Airways from midway as one of them were alleged of discussing about issues that were a threat to security of fellow travellers. One among the Muslim family was discussing about the safest place in the plane to sit. This conversation was misunderstood by the neighbor travellers and was escalated to the pilot. Later those Muslim members were kicked off from the plane in the midway and were interrogated by the FBI agents for the conversation they had in the plane As a result of the FBI interview, they were proved of no fault. It was just a misunderstanding which had caused a serious issue this way.

Though the Airways justify that they have acted like this to ensure complete security to their customers, it’s a bitter fact that these Muslim people were racially discriminated from the other travellers. Because they had a traditional look with beards and religious dresses, they were forced to undergo the unnecessary interview by the FBI agents. I feel this act of Air Tran is definitely condemnable. The Air Tran now apologizes for the inconvenience caused by them to the Muslim family. Though the airways are now ready to compensate for their travel expenses, the Muslim family is not ready to accept the explanation. Its high time that the Airways should review its policies and stop causing irrelevant disputes in the name of security. A mountain was made out of the mole!!

His first venture was malayalam movie “YODHA” which was before “ROJA”.His Soundtrack, “Roja” turned out to be the world’s 10^th best soundtrack ever, as rated by Time Magazine, USA. He will compose two Mongolian songs one Japanese song for his upcoming Malayalam/Japanese Multi-Lingual movie Nairsan starring Jackie Chan & Mohanlal & also traditional songs. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar pronunciation, born April 24, 1973 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, is an Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. In 2002, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time next only to Sir Donald Bradman, and the second greatest one-day international (ODI) batsman of all time next only to Sir Viv Richards. The list was later revised to make him the greatest one-day international (ODI) batsman of all time. In September 2007, Shane Warne, the world-record breaking Australian leg spinner, rated Sachin Tendulkar as the greatest player he has played with or against.
