Both India and Pakistan achieved independence from Britain in 1947. The British policy of ‘divide and rule’ yielded in formation of two countries. Nearly 62 years have passed since. India has become one of the major powers of Asia and today it is the largest democracy in the world. Along with china it is touted as the next world power. India has developed in to a major software power of the world. All these achievements have come despite the multi-lingual, multi-ethnic culture. We are a secular country and also the home of many religions. Our people speak nearly 18 languages and numerous dialects. Although poverty, unemployment are some of the worrying problems, the aspect of ‘Unity in diversity’ has made India a force to reckon with.
Now coming to another nation which got

independence along with us, the situation is nothing to ponder about. Pakistan has numerous advantages over India but could not capitalize on it. Pakistan has relatively less landscape than India which should be a great advantage because it would mean easy governance. Also it is not a secular nation but an Islamic republic which would mean eradication of religious conflicts. Despite all this Pakistan is considered as a failed state and migraine of whole world.
Going deeper, Pakistan could not enjoy stable democracy because of the power hungry army. There have been numerous military coups and this has ruined the country’s development. Another point is their hatred towards their counterpart, India. This hatred has resulted into formation of terrorist groups within Pakistan who proclaims themselves as freedom fighters of Kashmir. The terror elements were well supported by the government and the army and were given right to attack India. The seeds of hatred were sowed at very young age among Pakistanis by madrasas and they madly jump in to jihad.
All changed after 9/11. The US made Pakistan its partner in the so called war against terror and this angered the long time friends of Pakistan, the terrorists. They started attacking the country which gave them birth and till now the attacks are carried out claiming more than one famous casualty. Most of their bordering areas with Afghanistan have become a sanctuary for terrorists and it is up to Pakistan to clean them up or else get isolated from the rest of the world.
I am hoping for a stable Pakistan because an instable Pakistan would be great headache not only to India but also to the whole world.

mumbai_stock_exchange1Ladies and Gentlemen: We are in recession! Don’t expect Barrack Obama to say this to you. We are experiencing the worst Recession since “The Great Depression” in 1930s.that depression had the saviour called Roosevelt. he could control the depression by taking positive reforms. But the biggest advantage he had is that the depression only affected his homeland, USA.
But what we are experiencing is on much larger scale and it is taking its toll not only on USA but also the world. Me sitting in India could not guess wats the whole problem is…We believed every bloke in our country could get a job in the world famous Indian software companies once we land out of our college. Things were rosy and I could see many faces really ecstatic at their carrer. But suddenly from the hell this thing called recession set in.
The whole scenario changed. What seemed an US mortgage problem ballooned in to a world crisis. There were large lay-offs in the BFSI sector at first and the poison spread to all the other sectors. I thought the bailout plan by US will save the world and watched the voting on the plan as if it is an India-Pakistan match. But things seem to have gone worse from there.
We saw everyone going bankrupt…From Lehman Bros to Pakistan, We saw the organizations plying here and there in private jets asking for help…nothing materialized. Finally the recession has visited India. What seemed a comfortable life has now become a throne? Employees are thrown out like wastes and the future employees (I am one among them) have been put under eternal wait. For now we seem to be in murkier water but it would clear up soon. There is always a solution to every problem and we would be able to solve the crisis soon. There is light at the end of the tunnel and let us pray we would reach there soon…

Showing the way

MSD:Showing the way

For a man who made his debut three years ago, this “Ranchi Raja” is now leading the Indian cricket team like no one has did ever before. This may be seen as an injustice to many, as there were other captains like “The Dada” or the wiseden Indian cricketer of the century, Kapil Dev, who did well and took Indian cricket forward. But the current Indian captain is certainly a notch above others.
Nobody would have thought that Mahendra singh dhoni would lead India two years back. He was seen as a wicket-keeper batsman who could hit the ball as hard as a hammer hitting the nail. True to this, he destroyed arch-rivals Pakistan in his 5th one day and also terrorized srilanka on his way to a magnificent 183.But then came the slump for him and also to team India in the world cup 2007.He scored just 28 in his three innings with 2 ducks and India got eliminated. There was sharp criticism and even his house was stormed.
Then came the England tour where he played a match saving knock in the first test with the help of the tail and rain. India eventually ended winning the test series and by the end of the tour Dravid stepped down as captain. Then came a surprise decision made by BCCI which should go down in the history of Indian cricket as the greatest move.
Dhoni was made captain to lead a team India devoid of batting greats and their premier bowler in the inaugural twenty20 championship. what happened in the next fortnight saw something etched in our memory. Some critics may see MSD as a very lucky captain and this is partly true by seeing Misbah-ul-haq playing that ugly scoop. But we deserved the trophy every bit.
Then came the aussies who hammered us at home.Though we won the following series against lowly rated Pakistan, The real test was against aussies at their den.Dhoni did nothing exceptional in tests apart from couple of thirties. The team for the one dayers had a rather youth-looking and the wall and dada got omitted from the squad.Critics went hell for leather with the team and some even said we would not be able to reach the finals.MSD proved them wrong with his astute captaincy and thoughtful batting and the team has never looked back since.
What is impressive about dhoni is he has converted a group of talented players into a world class team.I have never seen a captain so dominating like dhoni and at the same time he has allowed the seniors their space. He looks unflustered by the load he is carrying. He looks cool, calm and a jovial person. From a man who could not speak infront of media because of his shyness in his earlier days, you could never have expected this.Lets hope he goes from strength to strength taking his team with him….
